Board Member Barb Kenney

Barbara Wells Kenney has a degree in elementary education and was a schoolteacher for eight years in Massachusetts, Vermont, and Washington State. While raising her two children, she managed a support staff in the King County library system, and was an active participant in Bellevue, Washington city politics as co-chair, treasurer and steering committee member in the city council races. In 1989 she was elected a member of the Sammamish Community Council and was then appointed to the first task force for Affordable Housing, Bellevue.

In 1996, she was a member of the Convention Center Expansion Committee, recommending against city subsidies for the venture. In 1997, she founded FAIR (Fiscal Accounting Involving Residents) in Bellevue, and became a member of the Business and Residents Discussion Group, which worked to diminish the power of Bellevue's bureaucracy.

In addition to her wonderful service on the Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute Board of Directors, Barbara serves on the board for the Lillian S. Wells Foundation, Evergreen Freedom Foundation, and Capitol Research Foundation.

Barbara is a champion for limited government, school choice, and active community involvement.

She lives with her husband in Washington State.
