Catherine’s first contact with CBLPI came when she served as an intern at the national headquarters in the summer of 2007. The experience was life-changing and impacted how she dealt with liberal bias on her college campus. “My eyes were opened to the hypocrisies and absurdities of leftist thought and I became acutely aware of how those supporting the Left were infiltrating my small campus.” Using the training she received at CBLPI Catherine countered the lack of conservative dialogue at her school by forming a Network of enlightened Women (NeW) chapter on her campus. The group served as a means for conservative women to share their ideas and be comforted in the knowledge that they were not alone in their fight. Catherine leapt at the opportunity to return to CBLPI and enjoys every moment she spends with its wonderful staff and supporters. Catherine Helsley joined the Luce Policy Institute as an Administrative Assistant in May of 2009. Before coming to the Institute, Catherine completed an internship with The Heritage Foundation following the completion of her academic studies at Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in December of 2008. Prior to this she spent a year abroad observing socialism at its fullest while attending the University of Reading in Reading, England where she took courses exploring politics in the Middle East and International Law.
