CBLPI Staff - Kristen JohnsonBookkeeperA native Virginian, Kristen Johnson has been CBLPI's bookkeeper since 1993, the year the Institute was founded. Kristen worked her way through college, paying nearly all her tuition from her own wages. Although she enjoyed her college years, Kristen says she always felt somewhat alienated by her professors' subtle messages that undermined the value of religion and family, especially marriage and motherhood. Upon joining the Delta Gamma Fraternity, she was surprised to discover that many young women shared her deeply-held respect for strong marriages and family, love of God and of country, and free will. Those values led her to the Young America's Foundation, where she interned during college, and to the Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute after earning her degree in psychology at Virginia Tech. "Working for an organization that espouses the exact beliefs I sometimes felt I had to hide in college is thrilling," says Kristen. "It is so important to reach girls before the radicals on campus destroy their traditional values." In October 1996, Kristen married her high school sweetheart, David, and moved to Ashburn, Virginia. Today they have four children, and she is currently enjoying everything her professors so subtly denounced. |
