Highlights From Past V-DU Events
As part of the V-Day Unveiled campaign, students on college campuses across the country took action against the vulgar feminist play, The Vagina Monologues. The Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute also held a "ladies night" event for local students at our headquarters outside of Washington, DC which included dinner, a movie, and lots of fun. |
Boise State University
- Hosted a "Bring Back the Love" Valentine's banquet, including dinner, swing lessons, and a raffle
- Held an "Anti-Vagina Monologues Campaign," which included hanging posters and chalking sidewalks
- Protested outside of the performances of the play, passing out information and flyers to people passing by
Bowdoin College
- Hung V-DU posters and flyers around campus
- Hosted Monique Stuart to speak against "V-Day"
Bucknell University
- Sold carnations in their student center and delivered them, in semi-formal attire, on Valentine's Day
- They donated the money they made from the flower sales, $334, to a battered women's shelter
Central Washington University
- Wrote articles for the student newspaper
- Organized a booth the opening day of The Vagina Monologues
The College of New Jersey
- Held a "Conservative Awareness Week" to discuss The Vagina Monologues in open forums
- Contacted the press and conservative organizations to ask for support
Drake University
- Held a "Real Empowerment" roundtable/forum
- A "Girls's Night Out" with dinner and a movie
- Self Defense class with an Army National Guardsman
George Washington University
- Hung V-DU Posters all over campus
- Had a table providing students and faculty with information about the play
Georgetown University
- Hung flyers around campus
- Went door-to-door around dorm rooms to raise money for a women's charity
- Interviewed with the school's newspaper
Oregon State University
- Students organized a booth in the main quad with information about the play, at which they had a bucket of candy to attract people
- Hung up V-DU posters and flyers all over campus
- Handed out the "Facts vs. Fallacies" sheets
Pierce College
- Hung flyers up around campus
Providence College
- When the play was canceled by the president of the school, Father Shanley, the "V-Day" organizers held a protest. V-DU organizers heard about it and held a counter-demonstration using V-DU flyers, posters and buttons
Roger Williams University
- Hung up V-DU flyers and posters all around campus
- Hosted Monique Stuart to speak out against The Vagina Monologues
Rutgers University
- Collected donations for the troops
- Orchestrated a tabling campaign in the dining halls with various V-DU posters
Salem College
- Had a "Girl's Night" on Valentine's Day
- Hosted Jennifer Johnson to speak out against the play and feminists
Smith College
- Hung flyers and posters around campus
- Got a group together and drove to Tufts University to hear Christina Hoff Sommers speak against The Vagina Monologues
- Another group of them drove to Bowdoin College to hear Monique Stuart speak againt V-Day and the play
St. Louis University
- Hung up V-DU posters and flyers around campus
- Students for Life and the Daughters of Isabella hosted "Genius of Women," which was a series of monologues, skits, and songs that promote a healthy respect for women
Tufts University
- Hung V-DU posters and flyers around campus
- Hosted Christina Hoff Sommers to speak against The Vagina Monologues
University of Connecticut
- Hung V-DU posters and flyers around the campus
- Protested outside of the play on opening night
University of Missouri
- Wrote an editorial against The Vagina Monologues and submitted it to the school paper
University of Nebraska, Omaha
- Organized an information table to pass out literature about the play
- Contacted legislators, regents, and the Student Senate to rally support against The Vagina Monologues
University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill
- Posted flyers revealing the truth about V-Day and its proprietors
- Sold Hershey Kiss roses for $1 a piece to raise money for the Orange County Rape Crisis Center
University of North Texas
- Held a "Proud to be a Gentlemen" contest, giving the winner a free date night
- Hung V-DU flyers and posters around campus
- Had their flyer campaign covered in the school paper, The North Texas Daily
University of Rhode Island
- Had an editorial published in the school paper against The Vagina Monologues
- Hung V-DU flyers and posters all over campus
- Hosted Monique Stuart to speak out against the play
University of San Francisco
- Had a letter writing campaign, sending submissions to the campus and local community newspapers
- Hung V-DU flyers and posters around campus
University of Virginia
- Hosted a standing-room only debate with the school's College Democrats about the play
- Senior Karin Agness published an article against the play on Townhall.com
